Taegangneung consists of the Taereung of Queen Munjeong Yun, the third queen of the 11th Joseon Dynasty, Queen Munjeong, and the Gangneung of the 13th King Myeongjong of Joseon, the son of Queen Munjeong, and the Gangneung of Queen Insun. Originally, Queen Munjeong wanted to move Jeongneung, the tomb of her husband Jungjong, to Gangnam, present-day Seoul, and be buried with her while she was still alive. However, the relocated Jeongneung was flooded whenever it rained and the damage was more frequent, After Queen Munjeong passed away, his son Myeongjong built Taereung in the present Location instead of Jeongneung. Since then, Gangneung has been formed and has reached the present.

- Formation of The Tomb: 1565 (20th year of King Myeongjong)
- Taereung was built according to the example of 『Gukjo Oryeui』, the tomb of Queen Munjeong Yun, the third queen of King Jungjong, the 11th king of the Joseon Dynasty. Queen Munjeong was crowned queen at the age of 17, and when her son Myeongjong ascended to the throne in 1545 at the young age of 12, she governed instead of Myeongjing for 7 years.
- B. Gangneung (康陵)
- Type of Tomb : Ssangneung
- Formation of the tombs : 1567 (the coronation of King Seonjo), 1575 (the 8th year of King Seonjo)
- Gangneung is the tomb of King Myeongjong, the 13th king of Joseon and Queen Insun Sim, Myeongjong's Tomb is on the left, Queen Insun is on the right. For the first eight years of his coronation, Myeongjong received his mother Queen Munjeong's governing, and after that, he directly took care of politics and tried to keep foreign powers in check
